Brigada Eskwela, also known as the “Bayanihan Para sa Paaralan (Working Together for Schools)”, added a new meaning to the Filipino concept of unity. From the image of barrio men bearing together the weight of a bahay kubo (nipa hut) on their shoulders to the image of volunteers braving storms and floods to help calamity-stricken communities, Brigada Eskwela brings to us a picture of people from different sectors of society repainting walls and blackboards, cleaning windows and doors, or repairing fences.

Despite scorching summer heat, thousand of school officials, teachers, parents, students, community residents, Companies and other education stakeholders gathered in BRIGADA ESKWELA in different public schools nationwide for the annual “Brigada Eskwela” spearheaded by the Department of Eduaction (DepEd).

The Brigada Eskwela, or the National Schools Maintenance Week, has become a yearly tradition to prepare public schools for the opening of classes every June.

This week-long event began in 2003 as part of the Oplan Balik Eskwela Program and National Maintenance Week of the Department of Education (DepEd). It encourages volunteers give out their time, effort and even donate materials such as paint, cement, lumber and other materials, which could be used for minor repairs and building (www.deped.gov.ph). F2 Logistics Philippines Inc., has joined Brigada Eskwela Since 2013, every department in F2 Logistics are willing to participate in this activity to help the student and school employees to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the school. Since then F2 support Brigada Eskwela in Paranaque National High School every year.
